Wellness Through Food was created by me to develop and share whole-food recipes, research health topics and create plans for individuals. I can help people use food and supplements to simply feel better or prevent and/or improve symptoms of chronic disease (obesity, heart disease, diabetes and autoimmune disease). My approach is science based as much as possible but focuses on the whole body rather than individual symptoms. Whether you are overweight, suffering from a chronic disease, or just want to feel better, I can create a plan, do the research and make suggestions to help you meet your goals.
Nutritional Assessment – Together we will explore concerns specific to you and discover the tools you need to fulfill your goals. This can include but is not limited to:
- Assessment of symptoms
- One on one health coaching sessions and check-ins
- Email support between sessions
- Pantry-clean-out and help with food shopping
- Meal plans based on your goals and/or symptoms (I also have a good elimination diet plan to help test for food sensitivities that can impede weight loss if that is something you are interested in)
- Blood work analysis – I can look at and make suggestions on nutritional markers in the basic blood tests that you can get from your Dr.
- Easy at home tests for blood pressure, body fat, urine PH, bacterial overgrowth, and thyroid problems even if you have tested normal. You do not need expensive saliva and hair tests that are not scientifically proven to work (and sometimes change weekly based on what you eat), lets make it easy.
- Simple cooking demonstrations
- Supplement recommendations if needed
What I don’t do: Tell you to stop taking prescription medicine or replace medical advice from your Doctor. What I suggest should supplement and or help you improve how you interact with your Dr and provide questions you can ask to help you advocate for yourself. Education goes a long way!
Research Assistant – Do you as a company or individual need help researching health topics? Are you writing an article and want scientific literature to support your findings? Are you an individual that has a question about your health and would like to know what the latest scientific findings are on the topic but don’t have time to research it yourself? I have a great love for research and I understand how to read and interpret articles from scientific journals. As a graduate student I have full-text access to most literature. I can pull articles for you on specific topics or write a summary for you on that topic.
Recipe Development - I love to cook and create new, healthy and delicious recipes. Do you have a product that you want to use in a recipe? If your product aligns with my values, I am happy to create, photograph and promote a recipe for you.
Product reviews and give-aways – Have a product you want me to try? I love to write about and support new products if they align with my values. If it’s a giveaway, I would love to help host a raffle/contest & provide you with a forum to promote your product & reward my readers and clients.
